Tako J. van Popta, MP was elected to represent the riding of Langley—Aldergrove in the House of Commons of Canada in the 43rd Canadian Parliament (2019-2021) and again in 44th Canadian Parliament (2021-present).

Tako van Popta grew up in Langley and together with his wife, Inga, have proudly called the area home for over 45 years. They have 5 children and 15 grandchildren living in or near Langley.

After graduation from UBC law school he joined McQuaid Hunter law firm in his hometown where he practiced law for 35 years and became the managing partner. He has had a strong commitment to public service and through his leadership became very well known before being twice elected to Parliament.

Tako is a member of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights, and is also the Shadow Minister for Pacific Economic Development and stands proudly on his principles.
